  • Brightest Day (Tie-In) Discussion Thread

Personally after celebrating my B-day this May 13. And receiving the entire "Blackest Night" series. I did a special speed-run of "The Blackest Night" in it's entirety (Tie-Ins) and all. I love it. And I gotta say "The Brightest Day" is pretty killer from what I read from Issues #00-01. I'm seriously hands down not a fan of a cross over series. I hate when a series crosses-over into another series. It makes that other series seem I dunno... Trying to hard to be something it isn't to live up to the expectations of something else. That's unless it's in the same Universe as the story using the same characters. But from how Geoff Johns writes these stories and how it all connects together is pretty amazing. I'm astonished to know this guy can really write a great tale.

I mean it is pretty dumb "Brightest Day" expands into the other on-going DC series. I'll admit that for the record since those other series have absolutely nothing to do with "Brightest Day" at all. Trust me I read them all so far. But for what it's worth, I'm liking this a lot and I wonder where it's going to be going in the coming weeks and months to follow. Also, If anyone is looking for any issues brand new or variants. My local comic shop guy has all of them at really cheap prices. If you need any let me know and I'll get them for you. Anyways, Let me know what you guys think of the "Brightest Day" so far!

Why can't they be on one thread? You don't have to keep making multiple threads for a discussion thread about tie-ins. And what's with that guy using an animated Fry on me. He's like hinting at me "What do you think you're doing".

Anyways, Old School, I hope in your massive comic collection you didn't collect Hawk and Dove or anything Liefeld related. Rob Liefeld sucks. I think Youngblood says a lot about how terrible that guy really is. I remember a friend gave me that comic when I was in middle school. And I noticed the characters legs were backward while the guys face was kicked forward. Terrible art, Shitty writing and horrendous plot devices. It's just as bad as that comic Pitt. Furthermore everything on "Image Comics" sucks. Low-end quality terrible proofreaders and godawful art. Just like that heap of shit everyone calls "Spawn". Spawn believe it or not had tons of potential but Todd McFarlane being the person he is, He literally destroyed his own creation. Making all of these stupid Spawn-Spinoff's and all of these retconning stories about nothing related to the original story. Milking the series has hard as he can to make penny's off of it until no one gave a shit anymore about it. That's one reason why I hated and despised American comics. Because irrelevant shit like that keeps getting put out.

            Edit:

Actually, Green Lantern is the only series not because I think so but theoretically that can retcon hardcore. But even so it still makes sense. Sometimes they change the story up for the time since it's so old. But the story itself is great. The Flash as well can retcon it's origin and still be awesome. IMHO those are the only 2 stories that can get away with doing that. Everything else who tries to do that can't cause it comes out all wrong. The comic writer has to be about his job which is writing comics. Not be about the almighty dollar like everyone else who writes comics is. I respect Geoff Johns because although he does make tons of money, It doesn't change his quality one bit. Most people who make that much change and become lazy writers and start not to care anymore. That being Todd McFarlane, Rob Liefeld and others. Seeing how progress really adds up in the GL/Flash series is pretty crazy.

Trust me, I've read thousands of manga series and translated tons upon tons of them. I've had to translate stuff that was amazing and stuff that was pure shit. Even Japanese make terrible stories as well. One being "Bleach". I think that story and that mangaka Tite Kubo is all a joke. Bleach is a story that tries to hard to be American in it's Japanese origin and it comes out looking and feeling after you read it completely pointless. Naruto is another story that I had the pleasure of translating a long time ago. Part 01 was incredible of the series. It should have ended there it would have been epic. Part 02 was just an excuse to be a cash-cow. Taking a break from manga translation for a while.

And for the first time in my life actually sit down and read an American comic. I can say with a straight face that GL, Flash and a few other series I've read are incredible. Old Flash with Wally West is one of the best runs I've read, Nice art the storyline is one of the best. Every issue you read you want to know what happens next in the next issue. Everything makes sense in that series. I read GL starting with Emerald Dawn I and II and those were both great. There's a thing called continuity and those both have it. And I thought that Guy Gardner being a Lawyer was pretty cool. When you have people like Keith Giffen, Gerard Jones, Geoff Johns, Alan Grant, Chuck Dixon, Dennis O'Neil, Ed Brubaker, Jack Kirby, Will Eisner and a few others you're in for a big treat.

I think Naysay figured you were copying Old_School.

Since School makes a lot of threads.

Shingo Wol, That's funny you have Kevin Mask as your avatar. I translated Kinnikuman and Kinnikuman Nisei both. This is one of my old groups I used to translate for. Here's the site where they host Kinnikuman G1, If anyone is interested in reading it in full English.

tl;dr means "Too long. Did not read."

Because you ramble like a crazy person who doesn't speak English as their primary language.
