Yeah, here he goes again, the lone wolf dashing off impulsively. To get in trouble.

Somebody make Kilowog a more sturdy chair, please.

I'm continuing to enjoy the new teams quite a bit, although this issue probably didn't paint Hal in the best of light. His frustration at not being able to ID the fallen Lantern was nice though (although 4 sectors = only 8 rings that need checked to see who they recruited presumably).

Seems like things are going to start lining up now for villains month though. Seemed a bit jarring (if typical) that events in the book are suddenly interrupted to make way for the big event. Does seem like Hal's being setup for a fall however.

*edit* I should say I really like this take on Hal. His impulsive nature should be shown as a weakness in the character, especially in the context of being a leader to the Corps, and I'm looking forward to seeing how this all blows up in his face and how he straightens things back out again. Its nice to see Kilowog challenging him on it already for example.

I just finished the issue and I think the main GL book is the worst of the line. I'm not feeling this at all. I might check out the Relic origin issue but after that I'm done.

Well, it's not as good as GLC, but I like it.
Loved when Hal did the the slide shoot back thing. He looked weird on p.1 though.

I like 2681795 a lot. Logical, extremely logical. Almost as good as Aya. She'll be a Corps leader before this is over.

And just as I feared, Hal is, well, being Hal.

Action has to be interrupted for Villains Month, really, and the ending is suspenseful but artificial. Still, nice looking art, interesting sub-plots, and worth a low 4. Venditti knows where he's taking us and I'll go along for the ride; Chosenone85, we'll miss you.

Why not just finish off the arc?

So far this has been my favorite issue of Venditti's Green Lantern. I enjoyed Hal's character and feeling sorry for his decision and I enjoy the new recruits. Kilowog throwing the chair out the window was great. I enjoyed the Octillion line and Hal breaking in. Intrigued with Nol-Anj but more intrigued with the ending, can't wait for Lights Out after the Villains Month. Venditti's writing takes some time to pick up but when he picks up his writing becomes amazing.

I thought this issue was ok. Not bad but not great. I miss Salaak in his role and equally miss the role of Kilowog the drill instructor. I'm really not a fan is this artwork. Some of the inside panels in particular just look bad, but I think I will take story over that right now. I do have a question, maybe I missed something, but when the Star Sapphire had Hal and she explored who he cared for, the next two page spread showed Kyle, what appeared to be Relic and some other stuff not Carol related. Why is this? Does Hal even know that Relic exists?

Prixiam used Hal's love tether to seek Carol. Right now, Carol is with Kyle fighting Relic. So now, Hal knows Carol is in danger against Relic but not who Relic is or even where they are.

I thought the art was definitely a step down from the previous two issues. I'm not sure if it was Tan under deadline pressure or Rob Hunter just not gelling as well as he did last issue, but something went wrong early and often. I was also none to pleased with the story here. Hal and Kilowog bickering just didn't need all that page time. I get it, and in the long game, I'm sure it'll be a nice little bit of "and then Hal came around to love Gazzl" scenes but now...Now it just seems like he doesn't want to rush into Relic just yet, which is weird because that's all we're going to have for the next few months.

Just pick up the pace, fix Soranik's hair and collar and I'll be singing your praises again soon enough.

I didn't mind the typical Hal I-can-do-it-alone thing, but what's with him bad mouthing the rookies? He didn't have an easy time himself as a newb. He always seemed like he'd be a bit more sympathetic to them.
