Why are we talking about killing any character? They all have alot of potential, what we should be asking for is better stories involving these characters and more face time for each of them.
Each earth GL has their own flaws and strengths,they each offer different stories and different points of view for different readers and GUY,HAL,KYLE and JOHN each have their own fans.

So why does one or more of them have to die? Why cant they all live?

Because the books are lacking a central character at the moment. So unless you give each of them their own series, you're not gonna make everyone happy. Therefor, kill the redundant ones: Kyle and John. Most GL fans are Hal fans (debate that all you like but it's fact) so get the focus back onto him. You wouldn't have 4 Supermans (ignoring the Reign of the Supermen) or 4 Batmans would you?

No. Not a good idea.

The biggest reason not to is that all four human GLs have their own fanbase. Obviously some are more popular than others, but why piss any of those fans off? As long as Hal Jordan is the star of the regular GL title and gets the spotlight, I have no problem with the others being around. I actually like Guy and John quite a bit (and Alan too though nobody asked).

And I have no desire to piss in Kyle fans' cornflakes.
