Keep in mind that "research" here doesn't mean poring over ancient tomes in a monastery. They use the name "Hal Jordan" in the trailer. Wiki or google that and you'll know in 1 second. Not to mention just googling Green Lantern without his name will show you all these pictures of a white guy in addition to black, green, red, and whatever. You don't even have to read the words.

Guys, stop being such Green Lantern snobs. (i.e. promoting the nerdish, mouth-breathing imagery of comic readers)
Some of you sound like such dweebs with your "knowledge" of GL. Accept that his era has been marked by John Stewart as the high-profile lantern. Comic enthusiests know Hal Jordan as the original main man. We are the minority here. Even with the nostalgic existence of Superfriends, not many remember or even watched it as you may think. The average person is not gonna rush to their computers to do research on who Hal Jordan is. Comic nerds will. Average Joes won't. For the few times someone has said something about GL being white for the movie, I let'em know that he was the original GL and that John came along later. Simple. And I don't sound like a snob doing it. Try it. You might like it!

No WE are not. I know quite a number of people who don't read comics that still no that Hal Jordan was the first GL. If people didn't only get their info from what they are told on television there would be less of this problem. I have no issue with those that think John is the only GL or was the first. My problem is those that you try to teach the history of the hero and they have the nerve to tell you are wrong even with actual proof. And why "knowledge" in quotes? It's not assumed knowledge it's actual knowledge. People know it. It's factual. If being knowledgable in the source material of a film comes from makes me a dweeb than I embrace that fully. I love my geek personality and wouldnt have it any other way. If that makes me a snob so be it.I LOVE conspiracy theorists. They are like human versions of the cymbal clapping, dancing monkeys. No one takes them all that seriously and they get bored with them after about 10 minutes.

My thing is, why give a damn what these people think? What should matter is you think. Also we are the minority

Why bother paying attention to people who think this way, why waste your own energy.

But my question is Why? People will already have a set mindset and most likely that won't change, so to me it seems like energy being wasted

We're the pure fans. We want what is true to the source material, not whatever crap they can hammer out to meet a deadline. Will we be happy that our favorite character got a film? Sure. Will we enjoy every part of it- certainly not.
You sound like a snob trying to "one up us" or "show us what is realling going on" when in fact you just like another moron who will be here for a couple months, get 150 posts, and then fade away.Figures for Sale/Trade: DCUC/DCD/Green Lantern Related *CHEAP*

A more apt comparison would be a comic book fan tweeting that someone was wrong for showing Lebron James in a basketball jersey because the real Lebron James only plays football. Is that a moron?

That's a better comparison and no that person is not a moron.

But you are perpetuating the sterotype of Comic Book Guy. You are sitting at a PC posting on a comic book message board. While it may not be in you mother's basement and you may not be grossly overweight it is still happening. Posting on forums is also included in that Comic Book Guy stereotype and all of us here are doing it.I LOVE conspiracy theorists. They are like human versions of the cymbal clapping, dancing monkeys.
