  • Murder Victim’s Batman Warehouses Looted

    Taken From www.BleedingCool.com

Ben Novack Jr, heir to the Fontainebleau hotelier fortune, was found murdered, bound and gagged in his Hilton Rye Town hotel room in July.

Now it appears that his vast collection of Batman comics and memorabilia, filling four warehouses, has been stolen. Believed to the the second largest suchcollection in the world, it was worth many millions of dollars. According to the Miami Herald, locks on the warehouses were cut.

His family are already engaged in a court battle over the estate and have accused each other of arranging Novack’s murder, which remains unsolved, and have engaged in a public fistfight over the matter. The comparison to a Batman-style plot has already been noted by many.

If any one is approached by someone wishing to sell large amounts of valuable Batman comics and merchandise, they should contact the Rye Brook police department.
Um...Sounds like a mystery Chuck Dixon would have written back in his Bat-days.

        2 things:
        1. That is a sad story.
        2. I'd better quit collecting so much comic stuff!

        Say cheese!

Uhhhhhh...... no? If I'm offered a lot of really kewl merchandise and probably hard to find stuff... I might just buy it. Rye Brook Police can go and buy their own.

Then you'd have to hope they never tracked these guys down, since it would likely lead them to you, and this post wouldn't help your case when you tried to say you didn't realize it was stolen.

The person who stole it probably wants it themselves anyway.

Sad they had to kill a man for it.

if the murder is directly linked with the theft then that means a person or persons committed two heinous crimes for a comic book/ memorabilia collection. Quite sad.

Man killed for his huge Batman collection.

My first thought upon reading this was, "Hmmmmm, can West account for his whereabouts at the time?"

Sounds a bit like the plot for Comic Book Villains, a low-budget movie by James Robinson.
