  • Green Lantern Video Game: Fan idea thread

I'd really like to see a GL Video Game (xbox, PS, etc)

Especially after this summer's Darkest Night\War of Light I think a person could come up with a really decent game from all this.

I was recently playing Mortal Kombat vs. DC (being GL of course) and thought this isn't bad. The possibility is there.

    my thoughts:

when playing you can choose your player. Choose from Hal, John, Guy, Kyle, Kilowog, and another selection of 5 other random GL's. You could have your beginner's level and train yourself on the controls... start around 'Rebirth' and work your way into the 'Darkest Night\War of Light' storyline. This alone will be many levels.
Along the way you can battle Sinestro foes, random alien foes, manhunters and finally even a Aplha-Lantern.
Also, like Spiderman: Web of Shadows, you will have the ability to go away from the main storyline and do side missions.
And let's say you can't enter a planet, unless the story indicates that you can.

A lot of good thought could go into this one. You can fly, create different constructs depending on the character you choose.

Now, lets take that a step further. At a certain point in the game. Probably a few levels after the Rebirth starter, say after you win over an Alpha-Lantern. You now get to choose your path. You can choose to stay as a GL, or change the story and take the path of a Red Lantern, or an Orange Lantern, etc.

huh? huh? come on.... come on.... you know this could work.

Now only if I had a few million dollars and a team of programmers at my disposal.
For what shall it profit a man if he should gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

I don't like the idea of choosing to become a Red Lantern, etc. The rings choose you, not the other way around.

    Also, it's Blackest Night.

ah you are correct. Baby kept me up last night and still a little out of this morning.

I dunno, I agree that the ring chooses you, but you then allow users to take a different path. I just thought of 'Spider-Man: Web of Shadows' and 'Star Wars: Force Unleashed' where in both games you have the option to either be good or go bad. With the current GL storyline you have more options AND it will then allows others to be part of the corps that they want.
You'd stilll have the option to stay a GL if you so wished.

I think if the player has the option to change corps, it would have to be as a user-created character, not as one of the Earth Lanterns.

oh i see, in other words choose a GL corps from our selection or pick your own? That might not be bad. Allow people to create their own member if they wished.

actually my big thought for changing to a different corps, would allow you to change the character. So if you went yellow, you could pick Sinestro or Cyborg-Superman, or Mongul or from 5 other yellow corps members.

The same if you went with the Red COrps you could change and become Atrocitius or Laira or that little cat or 5 other random corps members and so on.
For what shall it profit a man if he should gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

I would rather have a MMO type game, where we are a created person. And based on the personality we choose(through a series of questions), our origin will be decided. Of course the options should be limited. It would also have the option of being an Earth born character or some random planet for other. Depending on your personality, your origin story could consist of a path of:

            ~Green Lantern(with a Kyle/"save us" type origin)
~Sinestro Corps men(with a recruit type origin by Sinestro himself)
~Red Lantern(with a similar recruit type origin by Atrocitus)
~Star Sapphire(with a "join us" type origin)- Women only, of course.

From there, you would travel to Oa,Ysmault,Qward, and Zamaron to be trained. You fight Kilowog as a GL, random corps men for others. Once you reach a certain level in training you can opt to continue, and go further or follow several paths such as:

~Green Lantern(follow Guy Gardner on your first mission, in which he talks shit before and during the entire battle)
~Sinestro Corps(same thing with random member)
            ~Red Lantern(same thing....)
~Star Sapphire(follow random member on first mission, with less shit talking and more annoying "Use your heart" before/during battle)

After you seemingly use the final blow to the "bad guy", cut scene of them kicking your ass and your teammate delivering the real final blow. "You still need work" Then a cut scene that dwells into the central storyline of the game which is finding out about other corps and eventually becoming the best of yours. Off the top of my head, it would be a great to have the option to follow Sinestro or Mongul, Hal(rebel) or the Guardians. If you are playing as a Red Lantern or SS then you would have the options between:

Red Lantern(following Atrocitus to Ysmault, where you ambush Hal or go off on your own boosting your strength by destroying asteroids or something with blood. lol)
Star Sapphire(training with Miri, where you'll eventually meet Kryb/Kyle,etc., or roam out in space until you complete enough tasks to move on)

That's all I can think of right now. But that would be a great fucking game, imo.

                West.... nice train of thought.

See... we could create a kick-ass game here. now we just need a sponser.

Hey, anyone out there work for a big gaming company? ah well, that was worth a shot. lol

I think it could be an awesome game. We should try to push this before the live action movie hits theaters.

Hopefully they will have a movie game in the works that won't suck.

see that's the problem. I would rather see if we couldn't sell this idea into a game that would just luckily open before\around the movie.

So far, games from movies aren't that great. either they just plain suck in general or it's practically a copy of the movie in which case it's boring because you already know what has to be done and what the final outcome is.

I'd prefer an offline Knights of the Old Republic type of RPG.

Posts in the "Game & Humour" subforum don't count.

Once you have 1000 posts, you can get a custom user title. And since the "Game & Humour" forum has several spam threads (say something about the poster before you, his avatar, his signature, whatever), people got there too fast. You have to earn your user title.

How about one made by Bioware, made like the Kotor games, you start off on some planet as some sepices or whatever, of course all this chosen by you, and you do some stuff in basic tasks and such that will determine which ring you will get, if your Hate Meter gets high enough, you'll be wearing some red, if you are compasionate, you'll be sporting a stylish new staff, and if you show courage well you get the picture. Maybe to get things going a Sinner crashes on the planet and you have to do your thing to stop it or something, maybe you will try to fight the sinner and later get a GL Ring, or maybe you'll use the mass panic to score some money or maybe you'll just go and shout in the streets that everyone is going to die and the sinner likes the fear in you. And then you can go from there.
