  • Spider-Man 4 for 2011

According to this article, Sony has paid Marvel the $5 million advance for the Spider-Man 4 film, and they apparently intend on it being released in May of 2011, which could interfere with Marvel Studios' Captain America film. So it looks like Spider-Man 4 is moving forward along side the Venom spin-off, rather than being replaced by it as some sites had previously speculated.

Won't happen, and if it does. There's no way that the cast from the first three will be signed on and start filming in time to meet that release.

From what I understand (based on previous reports)... there is no intention to bring back the original cast.

Guys, The Dark Knight is on it's way to kicking the crap out of Titanic in terms of box office receipts. Do you think Sony really won't throw $10, $15, even $20 million at Toby Maguire? Warners threw $25 mil at Arnold a decade ago for fifteen minutes of screen time. It's a no-brainer for Sony to drop at least $300 mil on Spidey 4.

What I want to know is, what villains do they want to use? Love to see Kraven.

Its not about money at all. Its about the original cast wanting Sam Raimi to return as the director, and he's only a "consultant" right now. It'd be a huge mistake to replace Tobey and the gang for a fourth movie. Especially when they don't plan on restarting the franchise from the start.

Two concepts that are completely compatible. Connors turns into Lizard. Kraven gets wind of that and tries to catch the ultimate game. Peter finds out that it's Connors and tries to save him. Which in turn inspires Kraven to hunt Spidey instead. The showdown of the movie would be a straight retelling of Kraven's Last Hunt, perhaps with Lizard replacing Vermin.

haven't we learned that the Spidey movies can't handle more than one villain?

It's EXACTLY about money, don't kid yourself. It's a negotiating tactic on Raimi's part, and the cast as well. Happens all the time.

while I will agree that it definitely happens all the time, and that it COULD be about money, I think that cast really enjoyed working with Raimi. They've all said the same things, that they don't want to do it without him(excluding JK Simmons who said he just wants to be paid, lol).

Quoted for truth; it's nice to think that these people are standing on the ideas of the desire to make the best possible movie, but all they REALLY care about is the almighty dollar.

Green Bay traded Bret Favre last week in what was a bad football move. But, since the franchise had invested untold amounts of money in Aaron Rodgers being the face of the team from here on out, and the fact that all the teams get a cut of jersey sales make it a good business move. Money makes the world go round kiddos.

Kraven's last Hunt is the best way to go in the next movie. Even if the fatherly figure professor goes evil story was done in the second movie.

Although I also want to see Electro ans Mysterio in a Spiderman movie eventually
