PSYCHED, can't wait. Huge fan of the books and tie-ins, especially happy now that I've heard the movie differs. I like it when Marvel takes films beyond the movies and does something at least moderately new with the story aka Winter Soldier.

Good point. Definitely spoilers! I edited the title to reflect that. I don't want to ruin it for anyone trying to stay spoiler free.

If you're into a LOT of superhero action, then you should have already seen Civil War already. A fair warning, though it has an excellent and easy to follow story, there are subplots that at times can only be clear only if one has already watched a few of the preceding Marvel movies. I wouldn't recommend someone seeing the movie without having some familiarity with the above.

That said, for people who do have that familiarity, you are in for one hell of a rollercoaster ride. The action scenes are tremendous. I keep harping on that because I haven't seen them ever done so well, and certainly not for such long periods while still sustaining interest. You don't get "used" to all that's going on, it pulls you in, delights, startles, and clenches teeth and bunghole again and again.

I agree about needing to have seen the other movies in the series. Loss and grief is a running theme in the movies, and the players of the story share the connection of having lost someone important to them due to actions of the other characters. If you haven't seen the other movies, it isn't really obvious what events they are referring to that caused these deaths, so you want to have seen Cap 1 & 2, and Avengers 1 & 2 at the very least before seeing Cap 3.

I agree. At the same time, I have to admit I'm still a little stunned by it. It was a lot to take in; this movie more than any Marvel before truly compels me to watch it again as soon as possible, because I feel positive I've missed some truly killer things the first time. A fine accomplishment, and I'd just smile at anyone who tried to say this wasn't the best superhero movie so far this year and keep quiet. Sorry, there hasn't been one, so go ahead and waste your breath, I know what I know.

That said, Suicide Squad might be great as long as Buttfleck isn't in it too long. Oh yeah that's right, Apocalypse is out this year as well...

                  Ok, cool.

I saw it and loved it. Everyone had their shining moments. Lots of action, intrigue, starky sharp tongue, and Scarlett Black Widow kicked my ass all over the place. That being said, I have only one productive criticism about it:

                  (Prepares for rotten apple pelting)
                  (Hides behind Dave's sweet ass)

It didn't feel like an actual Captain America production. It theoretically could have been the next Avengers movie, or more appropriately titled "Captain America vs. Iron Man: Civil War". I understand the central theme certainly originated and prospered in the Captain America corner of the Universe, but with all the guest stars (whom I very much enjoyed) it was like Cap had to unwillingly share. HOWEVER...this does not reflect on the actual value of the movie. Still loved it, still buying the action figures, still buying it on DVD, yadda yadda.

I give this 4.35 Doombots out of 5.

f'ing loved this movie, (and i hate to say this cause i liked BvS but............) 10x better then BvS, the story made sense, the fighting made sense, adding the new heroes made sense, EVERYTHING IN THIS MOVIE AS TO WHY AND HOW IT'S HAPPENING MADE SENSE

WB/DC really needs to get a clue and fellow what Marvel is doing

Since I saw CW, I've been saying that Captain America is the greatest super hero trilogy ever. I can't think of a single 3-movie outing where the first one started very well and got better each time.

Civil War adapted the story that made me a Cap fan. Prior to 2006, I could just take him or leave him, but I was inspired by his unflinching moral stance, even if it put him at odds with SHIELD, the USG, other heroes, and some of the public.

CA:CW captured the moral ambiguity of the comic story. Although there were a couple of baddies stirring the pot, the real drama came from the emotionally tortured heroes testing their friendships under the weight of severe philosophical differences. My wife said she went back and forth on who had the moral high ground in the film, and I'm guessing that many in the general audience felt the same way. I have only the most minor criticisms of this film because Marvel Studios managed to make every hero feel real and special. It was absolutely outstanding.

I used to be a Marvel only fan back in the 70s, but Man of Steel (and subsequently reading the Sinestro Corps War) converted me to DC. And I've been a bit partial to DC since. However, after having finished the Brubaker Cap and Bendis Daredevil in the past three months, plus seeing all the movies, PLUS witnessing the abortion of DC Rebirth, I completely agree with the above posts: DC is declining fast.

B vs S looks pretty goofy (especially story wise but not just) compared to Civil War...or ANY of the Captain America movies.

I predict as a character, Cap's popularity will reach another all time high in the near future (same with Iron Man). He won't ever reach Batman status (which is a damn shame), but he might even surpass the big S after this movie.

All respect the Batman vs Superman fans and please understand, I really did like the action scenes in that movie...it's just...compare the aforementioned scenes to Civil War. Batman vs who?

Big Blue Lantern makes a great point about Cap as a super hero trilogy. For me, this surpasses Nolan's Batman as the best super hero trilogy. All three are fantastic. I can't honestly say that about any other trilogy aside from Nolan's, and even the last Batman had some problems. Iron Man 2 and 3 aren't good enough.

I don't see any others poised to do this. GOTG is off to a great start but has 2 to go. Thor 2 is kind of blah. Avengers 2 collapses under it's own weight (IMO).

I love ALL the Thors and Avengers...but I'd be pretty darn silly comparing them to Cap's trinity. We're talking about a whole new level of epic, I really hope like hell there's a Cap sequel planned, and I hope even more that Evans will be in it.

I LOVE the Dark Knight trilogy, and thought Batman vs Superman was meh...actually I'll say it outright: Batman vs Superman sucked, specifically when compared to Man of Steel. To me DK stands up real good with the Cap movies...but let me see CW again and I might have to go wholeheartedly with Cap.

One of the major reasons the Cap series works so well is that they're Movies with Superheroes in them, and not Superhero movies.

Iron-Man 1 was the same way, but faltered with 2.
(Iron-Man 2 is the low bar by which I measure all other movies, I disliked that much. Iron-Man 3 was way better, but....no where near as good as the first one. Sort of like The Godfather that way.)
