Seems a bit of a gray area. I mean, if he had willingly fertilized her eggs the USUAL way, divorce wouldn't get him out of child support even if done before he realized she was pregnant. Apparently the court thought that the fact that he willingly fertilized her eggs through non-standard means meant he was still on the hook, even though he changed his mind before they were implanted. (I do think there should be some kind of legal consequences for the woman forging his signature at the very least, though.)
