M. Emmet Walsh, a character actor whose career spanned six decades, died on Tuesday of cardiac arrest, ET can confirm. He was 88.

According to his long-time manager, Sandy Joseph, Walsh died at Kerbs Memorial Hospital in St. Albans, Vermont.

The actor -- born on March 22, 1935 in Ogdensburg, New York, and raised in rural Swanton, Vermont -- is known for his work in theater, TV and film. He first made his onscreen debut in Alice’s Restaurant in 1969.

Dianne Crittenden, casting director on some of the most notable features of the 1970s and ’80s including “Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope,” “Days of Heaven” and “Pretty Woman,” died March 19. She was 82.

She died Wednesday in Pacific Palisades, Calif., according to her friend and mentee Ilene Starger.

Joe Flaherty, the actor, writer and sketch comedian known for his roles on Freaks and Geeks, Back to the Future II, Happy Gilmore and the landmark Canadian series SCTV, has died of an undisclosed brief illness, his daughter, Gudrun Flaherty, told the Canadian Press. He was 82.

“After a brief illness, he left us yesterday, and since then, I’ve been struggling to come to terms with this immense loss,” Gudrun said in a statement through an organization called the Comedic Artists Alliance, which along with Toronto’s Second City had previously helped raise funds to assist Flaherty in his illness.

Eleanor Coppola, who documented the making of some of her husband Francis Ford Coppola’s iconic films, including the infamously tortured production of “Apocalypse Now,” and who raised a family of filmmakers, has died. She was 87.
