Rachael Lillis, a voice actor who starred in many “Pokémon” films and series as the characters Misty, Jessie and more, died Aug. 10. She was 46.
Lillis was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2024. Veronica Taylor, Lillis’ “Pokémon” co-star who voiced the lead character Ash Ketchum, posted a statement on X Monday morning that announced Lillis’ death.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Rachael Lillis on Saturday evening, 10 August 2024,” Taylor wrote. “Rachael was an extraordinary talent, a bright light that shone through her voice whether speaking or singing."

Juan “Chi Chi” Rodriguez, a Hall of Fame golfer whose antics on the greens and inspiring life story made him among the sport’s most popular players during a long professional career, died Thursday. He was 88.
Rodriguez’s death was announced by Carmelo Javier Ríos, a senator in Rodriguez’ native Puerto Rico. He didn’t provide a cause of death.

Patti Yasutake has died. A veteran of stage, screen, and the Starship Enterprise, best known for roles on Beef and Star Trek: The Next Generation, Yasutake died of cancer Monday, surrounded by friends and family, Deadline confirmed via her manager, Kyle Fritz. She was 70.
“Patti was my first client when I began over thirty years ago,” Fritz said. “We enjoyed every day we got to work together, and I will miss her spirit talent, and tenacity but most of all her friendship.”

Francine Pascal, a onetime soap opera writer whose “Sweet Valley High” novels and the ongoing adventures of twins Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield and other teens captivated millions of young readers, has died at age 92.
Pascal died Sunday, her publisher, Penguin Random House, said. It did not immediately have additional information Tuesday.

Edna O’Brien, one of Ireland’s most celebrated writers, has died at the age of 93.
Her literary agent, PFD, and publisher, Faber, said in a joint statement that Ms O’Brien died peacefully on Saturday after a long illness. “Our thoughts are with her family and friends, in particular her sons Marcus and Carlo. The family has requested privacy at this time,” it said.

Cheng, considered a pioneer of martial arts roles for female actors, died in the San Francisco Bay Area on Wednesday. She had long suffered from a degenerative brain disease and has donated her brain to medical research.
