  • The Mysterious Cities Of Gold Returns

25 long years ago. A french cartoon was brought to the United states. Titled The Mysterious Cities Of Gold, it followed the adventures of three kids as they tried to find and save the seven lost cities of gold.

Here is a clip to refresh the minds of those who may have seen it but forgotten.

The series only had one season. Which disappointed many fans, myself included. It has become something of a cult classic over the years and is now on Hulu and other streaming services.

But today I find that the animation company responsible for this series if giving us a second season, just 25 years late.

Its unknown if it will be dubbed and released in the US as the previous "Season" was but one can only hope.

Completely. Needless to say I'm kinda stoked for this. So I really Really hope someone picks this up for a English release.

Looks like we're getting THREE more seasons.

I didn't mind the single season we got back in the 1980s. 1) It told a complete story, and 2) I was a kid.

Does it need another season? I'll admit they only found a couple of cities, but at least they were in the plural.
Besides, the whole thing wrapped up well. The orphan found his long lost father and the evil cult was stopped when said father sacrificed himself destroying the city.
What on earth can another series (or three) add that needs adding and isn't just going to turn it into another excuse to sell some action figures.

It'd be like making Laputa 2: another floating city or Ulysses 32: don't worry, parts 1 to 30 are coming soon
If they want to pick up an old Saban property then they could at least start with Jayce and the Wheeled warriors and finish the story.

I think I'd have preferred a remake rather than an unnecessary sequel - mind you, I respect that they've stuck with the original theme tune and art style (both updated and refined).
