There are but this place was the basis for the atomic comics in kickass. They gave out premier movie tix and always had some notable talent in town for signings. Malve was a good guy and I had been going to that shop for 20 years. Sad sad state of affairs for sure.

That sucks.
One of my LCS is closing its doors forever on September 30th. He's in a bad location and business wasn't too good so he's tapping out. He currently has everything (except TCG's) 40-60% off which includes figures, Graphic Novels and statues. It was the perfect hangout for lazy Sundays and a good place for TCG tourneys.

Fuck I hate this economy. If I win the lottery I'm reopening atomic. Another thing is that noone knew they were shutting down, open Sunday closed yesterday.Last edited by TheGoatLantern; 08-23-2011, 05:55 PM.

Sorry to hear about Atomic Comic.
In my younger days, I dreamnt about owning my own Comic book store. Now, I think the odds of a comic book store staying afloat/profitable is slim to none, with most print media suffering a slow death. I mean Borders book stores closing is a sign of the times. You just witnessed the strength of geek knowledge. N.W.A., Nerd With Attitude. Straight out of Vulcan!

Not having a local comic shop really bites, but I've been having to deal with that unfortunate hand ever since the very tail end of 2003 where my LCS closed it's doors and locally there hasn't been another one since. If I want comics, I can either go to Books-A-Million bookstore, Hastings, or buy them online. That's it.

My local Atomic Comics closed a few years back, and I felt bad about it then, just as I do for you now. Good luck funding a new shop. Luckily, I had another shop nearby that I already occasionally went to for special orders. They took me in quite nicely.

Sad honestly. This place is the inspiration for the geek cafe I wanna open up.I LOVE conspiracy theorists. They are like human versions of the cymbal clapping, dancing monkeys. No one takes them all that seriously and they get bored with them after about 10 minutes.
