Everything just changed

My girlfriend Louise found out she is pregnant last thursday. She went in for a dental operation and they said everything wasn't quite right. One scan later and she is with child.

She is not only pregnant, she is 8 months pregnant. She hasn't grown at all, actually lost weight, was on the pill the whole time and has still been having her monthly visit for the last 8 months. At this stage it's illegal to get rid of it and they won't let her pick whether to keep it or not until after the birth.

Louise has done the maths on this one and she is 99% sure this kid isn't mine but that of her previous fella, who upon being told made it abundantly clear he wants nothing to do with it. I love this girl so I'm not going anywhere but holy fuck did this one sneak up on me.

I had a Philosophy class with a guy who's girlfriend called him from the hospital while delivering and that was how he found out she was pregnant.

Two reasons...

One : You're 22. You don't know how long you're going to be with this chick and from the sound of it you've only been with her for a short period of time. You have no idea who you are yet much less who she is. All of that wouldn't matter EXCEPT... that once she has the kid it's only going to get exponentially harder to break up with her the older the kid gets. You think it's hard leaving a woman who's pregnant with someone else's kid? Try leaving her when the kid is 2 years old and thinks you're "Dad". Unless you know for a fact that she's "The One" (and you can't know that) then you need to walk.
