yeah it's not the same at all. downloading did get me into comics but it's been about a year now and I've bought comics now an again but now there's not real reason for me not to buy them.

and probably the Red Lantern Corps.

I also download The war for Cybertron game, MP3s of various bands and the season of Burn Notice.

I download the single monthly comics but buy them when they become available as tpb

I think I haven't downloaded more than five or six comics in my life. It's not just that I líke to hold a physical copy in my hands (that is a part, but only a minor one). It's that I believe that a creator deserves to get my money if I want to read his stories. They made a job out of their passion. They need to pay their bills just like you and me. They need to buy food. Same goes for the people who work at my LCS.
When I want to eat a loaf of bread, I pay the baker. When I want to fly to Rome, I pay for my plane ticket. And when I want to read a comic, I pay for it at the store.

That being said, those Anti-Piracy ads are pathetic. It's just like those annoying "this is your brain on drugs" PSAs in the 90s. But hey, without those Anti-Piracy ads, we wouldn't have gotten this:

That was my main reason for stopping I'm. I now have a LCS and the guys there are awesome an now i feel bad every time i just download a comic thinking about how much money their losing.
