I kinda hope they do remake it, though I have to admit that it isn't my favorite FF game... FF8 still retains that claim... and it seems they're pulling out all the stops with Crisis Core, trying to make it true to FF7... at least in the eyes of the consumer.

From then on I stopped playing all RPG games, and went through a bit time Twisted Metal/WWF phase.
I bought FFIII for the DS when it came out and used my nephew's DS (with permission) to play... it was pretty fun, a total revamp the way I think they should've revamped I and II, but whatever... I wish they would release it on the PSP, but such is doubtful, based on the two screen format of the DS. FFIV is the perpetual classic, imo. Absolutely brilliant, and if I were to choose which FF title to be remade on the PS3, it would definately be IV... that said, it would very closely be follwed by VI, which was also brilliant, and has my second favorite FF character in it (Edgar). FFV is mostly forgetable, but it wasn't as bad as the ones I mentioned in the bad list.
FFVII is special, and I give it its due respect, however I feel that the fanboyism surrounding it is ridiculous, and truth be told, I feel that it has probably been over done... but I've always wanted the prequel to be done in depth (the Last Order anime OVA was great, but only about a half hour), thus why I'm so excited about Crisis Core, when I could care less about Dierge of Cerberus, and that weird ass mobile phone game. Still, its interesting to see a sub franchise within the greater whole.
FFVIII, like I said, is my favorite... I just love the whole thing, the story, the battle system, the grandiure of the whole project, and the intertwined stories of everyone involved... I especially enjoyed the end how it brought everything full circle... its quite a magnificent pice of work, and I think that of all the games, it would be best suited for a live action film, preferably an epic trilogy... though I know such will never happen. FFVIII also feature my favorite FF character, Seifer Almasy... a totally misunderstood figure who feels he's in the right the whole time... totally thinks he's the good guy, and he's willign to do anything to assure his victories... he also kills Odin, which was pretty amazing (and a total shock) to see.
FFIX was kinda weird... it was a throw back to the old FF games, and it flawed itself in both simplicity and complexity. It was too short, and too easy to beat, while doing simple things, like getting your MP high enough to use summons was ridiculously difficult and/or annoying sluggish. I'm not a fan of it, but I'll give it its due as a place holder, keepign the franchise alive while FFX was being worked on. FFX was awesome... epic, mysterious, and next gen (at the time). It didn't do much towards updating gameplay, but it presented itself nicely and its only real flaw, imo, was the terrible voice acting. And then came FFXI... which was fun, if not comlicated... but really, its just not worth $15 a month to play... but then, niether is most any other MMO, imho.
And then there is FFXII... probably the best gameplay of them all... a great storyline, and some great characters, including my third favortie FF character, Basch, who's twin brother framed him for the murder of his king. One of the most signifcant pieces of this story is the total lack of it being bogged down by a love story, which sets it apart from the other FF titles in a somewhat significant way, while opening up the door for more focus on all the characters' back stories and motivations... its really great, I absolutely love it, and it probably my second favorite FF game, though its definately the funnest to play do to its completely reqorked battle system.
Anyway... it seems I've gone and rambled... so yeah... anyway! I love FINAL FANTASY!!! Could you tell?Do good. Be well. Make happy.

Now, just to clarify, FF7's chronology goes like this:
Before Crisis ~ story about the Turks, features Vincent (mobile)
Crisis Core ~ the full story of Zack and Sephirtoth... and Cloud. (PSP)
Last Order ~ takes place during Crisis Core, I'm sure, its the story of Zack, Cloud, and Sephiroth in the village. (anime)
Final Fantasy VII ~ Duh... (PSX)
Advent Children ~ Sephiroth's genetic "brothers" trying to bring about the Reunion. (film)
Dierge of Cerberus ~ Vincent's journey into the dark remains of Shinra. (PS2)
I wouldn't be surprised if we got another sequel to take place after Dierge of Cerberus, based on its ending, and the inclusion of Genesis in Crisis Core... of course, no other FF7 projects have been officially announced.Do good. Be well. Make happy.

*Color Me Confused*
Final Fantasy is also a game ??? I just thought it was some computer animated movies ... I seriously didn't know that ... I guess I need to start paying attention to games ... Anything beyond Metroid, Pokemon, Mario, Sonic, Tomb Raider, Tron, and Tetris has evaded my radar ...

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within being followed by Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children did catch you off guard?
Yeah, dude... Final Fantasy is a game franchise that has been around since the late 80's. FFI was originally released for the Famicom (Japan) and the NES (America). FFII and FFIII were not originally released in America, but were released on the Famicom. FFIV was released on the Super Famicom (Japan) and as FFII on the Super Nintendo (America). FFV was not originally released in America, but was released on the Super Famicom. FFVI was later released on the Super Famicom, and was released as FFIII in America on the Super Nintendo. FF Mystic Quest was then released as an American exclusive on the Super Nintendo, made by Square USA... and it sucked. Then FFVII came out on the Playstation, followed by FFVIII and FF Tactics. They then released FF Anthology on the playstation, which contained FFV and FFVI. Later they released FF Chronicles which contained Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger (another classic RPG from Squaresoft, though unrelated to FF in a whole). Then came Final Fantasy IX on the Playstation, quickly followed by FF Origins, which contained revamped versions of FFI and FFII. Then came FFX on the PS2, shortly followed by FFXI on the PS2 and PC (now also available for the 360). Then FFX-2 came out... then they made expansions for FFXI for a while, while releasing FFI, FFII, FFIV, FFV, and FFVI on the Gameboy Advance. Then FFXII finally came out, and on its heels came the first American port of FFIII, which was completely revamped and released on the Nintendo DS, and yet another expansion for FFXI. FFXIII will consist of three different games (FFXIII, FFvXIII, and FFaXIII) and is due out for the PS3 eventaully.
Note: I didn't forget the 4 FF Gameboy games, nor the Gamecube Crystal Chronicles games... I just chose to ignore them.
So... yeah... Final Fantasy has been around for a very long time, and always has fairly high profile releases... so... you really must not pay attention to video games... either that, or you've been living under a rock for the last 20 years.Do good. Be well. Make happy.
