  • Cool FFXII cheat...

So I'm playing through FFXII again and I stumbled upon a little cheat... its not a glitch, but its still a really great exploit.

In the Tomb of Raithwell, when you enter it, you know how there is that Demonwall taht you're supposed to run from, but then have to fight the second (weaker) one? Well, if you defeat that first one (which is twice as hard as it seems to have twice the life and strength) then you can access a little jewel on the wall behind it. Once you defeat the second Demonwall you can touch the jewel and stairs on both sides will appear, leading you through a hidden hallyway on either side of the next room, and into a secret area.

This secret area has some tough enemies, so I'd recomend doing this before Vossler leaves your party (i.e. do it when the story brings you to the Tomb rather than going back afterwards, unless you've leveled up a bit), but if you follow the stairs on either side of this secret room it will take you down to a treasure chest, and inside the chest is a Demonsbane sword. Not only is this a super strong sword for this point in the game, but you can get as many as you want since the chest keeps coming back (though it only randomly spawns). You can turn around and sell a single Demonsbane sword for a lot of gil! So once you get enough for all your sword weilders, you can keep getting them and make uber bank, allowing you to get more spells and better armor/other weapons upon your return to Rabanastre! And the best part is that the sword is so good, it makes all the enemies down there dead real quick and in a hurry.

I found this cool, and just thought I'd share for any FF fans that may be playing this game (again or for the first time).

Do good. Be well. Make happy.

If I was playing this game, I would say "thank you". As it is, I'm still a FFVII purist and haven't played any other ones yet. If you ever want to talk FFVII, I'm always willing to discuss my fav game of all time.

I still need to start playing FFXII. My girlfriend bought it for me for my last birthday, last year and I've just never gotten around to it.

Isn't FF VII: Crisis Core almost out?

Yes it is... Crisis Core comes out on March 26th, and I'm getting it for my Birthday.

FFVII is the greatest RPG of all time, with Chrono Trigger being a close second IMO.

I wish the 360 had a lot more RPGs.

Has anyone played Shadowrun? Is it any good?

Agreed. But then again, I think FFVII should be made into a movie (no, not like Advent Children, the same story) and also a novel. The story in that game is still one of the best I have ever seen/read/whatever.

Yeah I would love a movie based on FFVII. I know a lot of people would kill for a PS3 remake, personally I don't see the point (but would still buy it the day it cam out).

btw what did you think of AC?

You know what man? A friend put that on my computer well over a year ago, and I never got around to watching it. I think I'm going to buy the movie next time I'm out and about.

A PS3 remake would be cool, but they would probably do away with the little characters with the distorted bodies, which I always loved

Advent Children is badass... I think I'm gonna watch it in my mini-theater tonight.

As for the PS3 remake... they made the first cutscene using the PS3 engine and claimed it was a test... and considering the fact that no information other than Square denying that a remake is in the works has come to be in the last 3 years, I really don't think there will be one. That said, I've also read reports that Crisis Core ends extacly where FFVII begins, thus I think the ending will, in fact, be that footage, if only edited a bit to remove the FFVII title, and maybe add a TBC note, or something.

Anyway, for those that haven't seen said FFVII PS3 tech demo, here you go:

Ah... I just found this on youtube... its the post credit ending of Crisis Core... and its not quite the same as the tech demo... so who knows. I still think that if a FFVII remake is happening on the PS3, that it is the best kept secret in the history of the gaming industry.
