Green Arrow vs the Punisher

One is a millionaire skilled with a bow and arrows as well as many other weapons including his trickshot arrows who has time and again proved why he should be on the JLA with the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman. The other is a hard hitting vigilante who's ex-military background helps him deal out lethal justice to those who would corrupt the innocent with gang violence, drugs, etc.

GA doesn't use guns on the regular, but that doesn't mean he's like Batman and WON'T use guns. Punisher is just a badass with a deathwish who doesn't care to go in guns blazing. I think Arrow's trick arrows might be his ace in the hole, as a well placed electric arrow, or even a boxing glove arrow could take ol' Castle out of the fight. Oh yeah, GA's arrows are a lot quieter than guns too, so he'd probably be able to move around a little more stealthy. Unless of course Punisher has ten different types of silencers, which he could, but it's not likely....

Giving this one to the more heroic Robin Hood wannabe.

Of course Punisher has silencers, not that he'd need them. Punisher is physically stronger than Ollie, and of course his weapons arsenal far outweighs Ollies. I don't even think Ollie would get many arrows off before he's pumped full of lead.

I just don't think it'd be that easy for him. GA deals with people who wield guns all the time, and the Punisher is no different than any other mercenary with an unlimited arsenal GA has faced.

And just how is Castle physically stronger? He's been out of the military for a loooooooong time now. Also, I was looking at the back of my Hard Traveling Heroes DCU 3-pack [the small figs] and it had stats on the back with GA having higher strength than Hal Jordan, a guy who's CURRENTLY in the Air Force and arguably in the best shape of his life. If he's stronger than a guy who's still in the military then why would a guy who's been out of service outclass him in that regard?

If him being in Vietnam has anything to do with the story, then he's waaaaaaaaaay too old to be any kinda threat to Ollie. My dad was in 'Nam and he's pushing 60. They need to rewrite his origin to make him in the Gulf War or Iraq or something a little more modern unless he's just been given a new body by some omnipotent force or something [which is lame if that's the case].

Ollie has had a significant boost to his skills since he took the time out to train during the year break after Infinite crisis, subsequently he stood toe-to-toe with Deathstroke (arguably DC's closest parallel to Punisher).

Up close, I'd actually give this one to Ollie. Mexican stand-off, Frank would get the shot off first, but Ollie's arrow would get him shortly afterwards. With both characters hunting each other in an unfamiliar environment (urban or wilderness) I'd have to flip a coin; Ollie hasn't done a lot of tracking recently, but he had an amazing knack during the Grell years.

Why isn't this Green Arrow vs. Hawkeye?

Because Hawkeye fought against Deadshot in the first hero vs villain match-up. I don't wanna see two guys with bows taking on each other, it's more of the same old same old people come to expect and it often comes down to who's the favorite. This is a much more interesting battle and I really don't see how some can just piss on GA's skill like it's nothing compaired to a guy who's power is guns.

Punisher's got his ass kicked plenty times before, and it was also by common thugs.

For every one of Punisher's grenades, GA has an explosive arrow. For all of his guns GA has arrows, electric arrows, bola-arrows, handcuff arrows, cryo-arrows [ice arrows], boxing glove arrows, etc....
