I had one of the original AvP books and picked up part one recently. Gotta get the conclusion some time, but there's no hurry since I haven't started reading them.

I just started another Aliens novel trilogy. There's no actual name to the trilogy itself, but it has 3 separate titles for each novel that connect together. First book was Out of the Shadows, and had Ripley as a main character. Second book is Sea of Sorrows, which I'm on now. So far, the connection seems to be a mining planet that has an underground dead civilization with Xenos thrown in.

I think the thing that was off-putting at first was that they chipped away at the mystique of both species on the one side by weaponizing the Xenos and making them controllable by humans (the plan that didn't work in Alien: R) and on the other by having the Yautja actually communicate with people and being willing to work with them. But I just thought of it as a kind of "what if" tale and the story was pretty engaging. I also like the ending---victory at a cost.

Jeez. I've been reading one book for a few weeks. It is a pretty dense history book (and I read the chapter notes too), but still.

...and we're done. Fairly good story, reminded me of the battle of wolf 359 from tng. It's a shame Johnny Mains died with his girlfriend. I'm gonna look into more books by Tim Lebbon.

Yeah, some of them don't really connect until the third book, but it does keep it fresh.

Finished book 1 last night, had book2 paid and downloaded within 30 seconds after finishing book 1. Liking it very much. Took me about 1/4 of the way through to get accustomed to different narratives and how they connected, but by the end, it was all flowing nicely.
