Convention Recap: Green Lantern at San Diego Comic-Con 2014

Couldn’t make it to San Diego for Comic-Con? Not interested in twitter? Or maybe you just ignored TheGreenLanternCorps.com mainpage news feed. Either way, we forgive you. So without further ado, here’s a recap (in no particular order) of everything Green Lantern related from San Diego Comic Con 2014! Don’t f*** up next time though!

Just a few days before Comic-Con kicked off, Sideshow Collectibles announced a new Green Lantern sixth scale figure was coming soon. At the convention, Sideshow then displayed the figure on the convention floor. Check it out below.

LEGO announced a Green Lantern vs Sinestro Set based on the upcoming videogame LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. While we’re talking about that game…LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham will feature playable characters Arkillo & Bleez! Arkillo and Bleez! How crazy is that?! Check the previous link for a video of both of them in action.

DC Comics had a Fan Sweepstakes that you can still enter, as of this writing, for a chance to win some cool prizes. Because what’s cooler than having your own Orange Lantern Power Battery?

Entertainment Weekly had this hilarious gif of some of DC Comics’ top creators including writers Grant Morrison, Geoff Johns, Scott Snyder, Co-publishers Jim Lee & Dan Didio and Superman artist John Romita Jr.

Speaking of Grant Morrison, he was in full on promo mode for the upcoming Multiversity series. Not only did attendees get a poster of a map of the DC Multiverse, but Grant made it himself (designed by Rian Hughes). Morrison talked about Green Lanterns Abin Sur & Kyle Rayner who will be featured in the series (on different Earths). Sorry Etrigan fans, but appears he won’t be Green Lantern after all but in the previous link, you can see artist Chris Sprouse’s designs for the “hellish” Abin Sur.

DC Comics had Green Lantern Corps artist Bernard Chang designing lanterns for the audience at the DC booth!

Oh you want to talk about animation? Well Warner Bros. Animation keeps it going every year, and with the already announced Justice League: Throne of Atlantis movie coming late this year, it was great to hear of yet another league adventure coming soon. Damn it, I forgot to mention what it was…an original animated movie written and directed by Bruce Timm entitled Justice League: Gods and Monsters!

DC All Access catches the world up on what Charles Soule has been doing in Red Lanterns!

Warner Bros. featured a clip of Batman and Superman during their Hall H panel on Saturday and even debuted the first official look at Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. But it was the news from outside the convention that gave me the most excitement. Apparently, WB is so happy with the script they have for BatmanVSuperman: Dawn of Justice that they want Oscar winning screenwriter Chris Terrio to stay apart of the team and write Justice League.

And of course, TheGreenLanternCorps.com had our 4th Annual Meet & Drink at the Tilted Kilt in downtown San Diego. Check out all of our photos from Comic-Con 2014 here!
